Salted Whiskey Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today I want to share with ya’ll some cookies I made recently.

Not just any type of cookies, no, these are chocolate. Not just ordinary chocolate chip cookies you’ve had a million times, these chocolate chip cookies have whiskey in them and are sprinkled with extra salt.

Can you say yum?

I love chocolate chip cookies, but like a lot of people it seems, I’m very picky about them. Which is why when I had some of the best chocolate chip cookies with some friends the other day, I had to try and recreate them.

The story is simple. Me and some friends had gone out to eat not too long ago at this cute little french restuarant, I’ll post pictures in a later post, and our order unfortanutely got messed up. The best part was that they brought us all these huge chocolate chip cookies which, I swear, were the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten in my life.

They were thick and hardy, yet still soft and underbaked in the middle. I don’t know how they did it, but I want those cookies again soon!

Now, these cookies aren’t like the cookies we had at that French restaurant. These are a lot softer and lighter.

While they aren’t like the ones we had, these are still amazing. In fact my older brother even stated that, “if everyone in the world ate one of these cookies at exactly the same time, there would be no war.” Yeah. Take those words to heart, I know it’s good when he says something like that!


 The secret to these cookies is that I used White Lily AP flour. White Lily is regular all purpose flour, but is a lot lighter than most ap flours. It is a southern brand, so try your best to find the lightest flour you can!

Finally they get sprinkled with a generous amount of salt to really bring out all of the flavors.

Salted Whiskey Chocolate Chip Cookies

(Recipe adapted from The Kitchen Magpie)




2¼ cups White Lily Flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ cup of butter

1 tsp salt (if using unsalted butter)

1 cup of packed brown sugar

½ cup of granulated sugar

1½ tsp good vanilla extract

2 tbls whiskey

2 eggs

2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips



Cream together the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, whiskey and vanilla, mixing thoroughly. Beat in the flour, baking soda and salt.

When that is done, fold in the two cups of chocolate chips by hand, and prepare to put them on some parchment paper lined cookie sheets.

Drop by large balls onto the baking sheets. Sprinkle extra salt on top.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and slightly underdone. Cool on the sheets completely.
